Greatly impacted and inspired by the Vancouver Cold Read Series, I began the Toronto Cold Reads in 2003. The goal was to provide a supportive environment where artists could meet, create and share their work. This has been made possible throughout the years thanks to the efforts of many volunteers but most significantly, Derrick Chua, Melissa Moore, Kurt Spenrath, Adam Barret, Megan Benjafield, Cara Saunders and our amazing current core team comprised of Marcia Johnson, Melyssa Ade, Jarrett Rusnack, Tim Cadeny, Chantal Forde and Maggie Sulc.

 

We are grateful that our events at the Victory Café and our new home the SoCap Theatre have been graced with many talented artist with whom we are able to build and strengthen our community. We are proud to have assisted in the production of shows, with many pieces first read at TCR going on to professional production. Many of our members who first came to our stage as budding writers are now established professionals. As our event continues to grow and evolve we have added a musical component to the evening and our TCR Writers Group led by Jarrett. We are excited to be a part of the development of new work and we welcome all to our growing family
